Surrey mayor says Whalley strip ‘urgently’ needs supportive housing



Surrey's leader is requesting the common government concoct the cash to assemble 150 units of strong lodging to get individuals out of tents along the Whalley Strip. 

Linda Hepner said lodging is "critically" required. 

"Once those tents are gone we can discuss strong administrations that need to happen," Hepner said. 

"I would prefer not to fundamentally move somebody off the road into an asylum or into a lodging unit where they are not getting the help administrations." 

She said bolster administrations for treatment and enslavement are additionally urgently required. 

"I truly need to be evident that I require the help administrations where the lodging is. I needn't bother with the general population being moved into a place to rest and afterward all the help benefits back on 135A Street." 

Hepner has visited the strip with Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Judy Darcy. 

Hepner said the issue of vagrancy is one reason she intends to keep running for another term as leader. 

"I truly need to have some huge effects on social and moderate lodging and dealing with that 135A issue (Whalley strip). That has been longstanding in the city since the 80s yet has raised all the more as of late over the most recent few years."
